Climate Change and Energy Management
King Slide’s dependence on energy resources has been increasing as our operations continue to grow. The Company is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, providing green products and achieving environmental protection through energy efficiency improvements and non-green energy-saving equipment replacements. Please refer to King Slide’s CSR report for more details on our energy-saving improvement measures.
● The fixed pollution emissions from King Slide Works in 2022 were 0.224 metric tons of particulate pollutants and 0.602 metric tons of nitrogen oxides (Nox), totaling 0.826 metric tons.
● King Slide Technology has no fixed pollution sources
● The direct emissions of greenhouse gas from King Slide Works in 2022 include 17.5 metric tons of CO2e from official vehicles, and  indirect emissions include 4,608.87 metric tons of CO2e from purchased electricity . Total emissions from King Slide Works was 4,628.34 metric tons of CO2e. The reduction target for 2023 is 19.91%.
● The direct emissions of greenhouse gas from King Slide Technology in 2022  was 2.62 metric tons of CO2e from official vehicles; the indirect emissions include 6,370.94 metric tons of CO2e from purchased electricity . Total emissions from King Slide Technology was 6,430.83 metric tons of CO2e. The reduction target for 2023 is 0.85%.
● The greenhouse gas emissions of King Slide Works in 2022 was 508.95 metric tons of CO2e/ thousand products.
● The greenhouse gas emissions of King Slide Technology in 2022 was 965.24 metric tons of CO2e/ thousand products.
Water Management
King Slide Works and King Slide Technology use 100% tap water. The Company would not cause land subsidence since no groundwater is extracted. The wastewater discharge of King Slide Works includes wastewater generated from the production process and employee domestic sewage. Around 70% of wastewater generated from the production process is processed through the water resource recovery system and reused during production; the remaining 30% of wastewater is processed by the wastewater treatment system to the standards of regulations and discharged into the sea through the channels of the Water Resources Bureau.
● In 2022, King Slide Works discharged 53,857 metric tons of wastewater generated from production and 3,682 metric tons of domestic sewage.
● King Slide Technology does not generate wastewater from production, it discharged 9,742 metric tons of domestic sewage in 2022.
● The production water usage of King Slide Works in 2022 was 16.21 liters/m² of product surface area, and the domestic sewage volume was 507.16 liters/person.
● The domestic sewage volume of King Slide Technology in 2022 was 754.6 liters/person.
● The water quality meets the water pollution prevention regulations and is regularly inspected by the government and a third-party impartial unit.
● The recovery rate of processed wastewater through the RO reverse osmosis system in 2022 was approximately 62.8%. A landscaped pond is built in King Slide Technology to collect rainwater and irrigate turfs, optimizing water resources utilization.
Waste Management
At the procurement stage, King Slide takes into consideration all potential waste that may be produced during the production process and ensures that there is no hazardous waste specified in the Basel Convention. The three main types of waste generated from King Slide Works are employee domestic waste, general and business hazardous waste; the two main types of waste generated from King Slide Technology are employee domestic waste and packaging materials waste from outsourced components. In order to implement waste management, we carry out thorough recyclable waste classification and conduct employee education to promote the concept of waste reduction. All types of wastes are cleaned and handled by qualified waste removal agency which meets environmental protection regulations. Domestic waste is incinerated by the incineration plants, and the recycled items are handled by the recycling agencies.
● In 2022, the total waste generated by King Slide Works was 2,477.79 metric tons. Non-recyclable waste was 168.21 metric tons, accounting for 6.79% of the total waste. The amount of recyclable waste was 2,309.8 metric tons, accounting for 93.21% of the total waste. Since stamping is King Slide Works’ main production process, the main recycled items are scrap steel and galvanized steel, which accounts for more than 96.07% of the total recyclable waste. Waste paper, plastic film, scrap plastics and wood pallets each account for less than 1.0% of the total recyclable waste. We are committed to reducing industrial waste. In the future, we will continue to improve the yield rate of our production process and reduce the output of scrap metal.
● In 2022, the total waste generated by King Slide Technology was 3,255.1 metric tons. Recyclable waste was 3,156.46 metric tons, accounting for 96.97% of the total waste. The production process is similar to that of King Slide Works, the main recycled items are scrap steel and scrap galvanized steel, which account for more than 97.36% of the total recyclable waste; Waste paper and plastic film account for around 1.81% and 0.34% of the total recyclable waste, respectively; scrap plastic, wood pallets and domestic recycled items account for around 0.49% of the total recyclable waste.
● King Slide Group’s 2022 solid waste output was 16.67 kg / thousand product sets. Proportionally, the solid waste output of King Slide Works was 18.54 kg / thousand product sets, and the solid waste output of King Slide Technology was 14.40 kg / thousand product sets.
