Climate Change and Energy Management
King Slide’s dependence on energy resources has been increasing as our operations continue to grow. The Company is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, providing green products and achieving environmental protection through energy efficiency improvements and non-green energy-saving equipment replacements. Please refer to King Slide’s CSR report for more details on our energy-saving improvement measures.

Water Management
King Slide Works and King Slide Technology use 100% tap water. The Company would not cause land subsidence since no groundwater is extracted. The wastewater discharge of King Slide Works includes wastewater generated from the production process and employee domestic sewage. Around 70% of wastewater generated from the production process is processed through the water resource recovery system and reused during production; the remaining 30% of wastewater is processed by the wastewater treatment system to the standards of regulations and discharged into the sea through the channels of the Water Resources Bureau.

Waste Management
At the procurement stage, King Slide takes into consideration all potential waste that may be produced during the production process and ensures that there is no hazardous waste specified in the Basel Convention. The three main types of waste generated from King Slide Works are employee domestic waste, general and business hazardous waste; the two main types of waste generated from King Slide Technology are employee domestic waste and packaging materials waste from outsourced components. In order to implement waste management, we carry out thorough recyclable waste classification and conduct employee education to promote the concept of waste reduction. All types of wastes are cleaned and handled by qualified waste removal agency which meets environmental protection regulations. Domestic waste is incinerated by the incineration plants, and the recycled items are handled by the recycling agencies.
| ● | King Slide Works’ 2023 waste output was 1806.47 metric tons; non-resource waste was 111.53 metric tons, accounting for 6.17%, and resource waste was 1694.94 metric tons, accounting for 93.83%. The main recycled items were scrap iron and scrap tin, which was 95.88%. Because the major process of King Slide Works is the stamping process and the main raw material is iron, scrap iron and scrap tinplate have the largest volume in recycled items. Except for waste paper, which accounted for 1.12%, the recycling amounts of other waste plastic films, waste plastics, etc. were all below 1.0%. In the future, we will continue to improve the process yield, reduce the output of scrap metal, and achieve the goal of industrial waste reduction. |
| ● | The recycling volume of King Slide Technology in 2023 increased 0.22%. The total output of resource waste was 2265.19 metric tons, accounting for 97.19%. Because the production process is similar to King Slide Works, the main recycled items are scrap iron and scrap white iron, which added up to 96.72% of the total recycling volume. The waste paper was 2.14%, the waste plastic film was 0.24%, and the rest such as waste plastic and waste wood, pallets, daily life recycling items, and etc. were about 0.9%. |
